Use small amounts of rock salt, pool salt works every time for me, make sure there are no stray sharp edges on your PVC pipe even a little plastic strain can cause eye damage.
Good luck

If the damage is minor a milky white film grows over to protect the underneath while healing, it can take 1-2. Months till this protector drops of, it will be over night to. If the damage is more severe then the eye will also look milky and will stay that way, they still will live a normal life but may receive less food. Hard to tell wether damage is temporary or permanent type, just have to wait the fish will heal its self, keep n eye on it and like fishlips says if it worsens use pool salt in small amounts, most of the time it's not needed.

An injured eye makes no difference to breeding and outcome of fry, I myself have a few bung eye females of a few different species, and they breed fine, the fish may be shy to begin with from only being able to see on one side, but they get use to it
