I can get some ibcs for $120 but they have had weed spray in them. i want to use them as rain water tanks and to age water, anyone got cleaning tips or is it better not to risk it?

I wouldn't. That stuff is pretty persistent. There are plenty of IBCs that can be had for that money that have only had harmless stuff in them.

I don't see the issue, as long as it is round up - it breaks down on sunlight, can be washed with detergent and water. I've used barrels to commercial breed marine species (fish and seahorses) and used for freshwater ornamentals (fish and shrimp)

I think the point is clear though - if you can get IBC's that have not carried poisons and for cheaper, then it is surely a no brainer?

Sure the cost is the point. The product isn't icthyotoxic though. You need to be clear on toxicity and/or ability to clean. As I said not a big deal with round up it isn't a "poison."

Glycophosphate itself it pretty non-toxic, its one of the only weedkillers approved for use around wetlands/waterways, what normally makes the difference is the surfactant used to get it to dissolve into the plant tissue. The surfactants are the dangerous component as far as fish go. If you wash it out with some detergent and then lots and lots of water, even soak it a couple of times, you should be fine. If you want to be extra sure, once you are ready to add fish you can add some activated carbon to the filter to grab any remaining toxins

i have found some that have only had hydrogen peroxide in them (god knows what for), thinking thats easier to remove than weed killer

Hydrogen peroxide just disintegrates into oxygen and water, so should be fine
