Hey all,

About a week ago I saw eggs in my 4 foot cichlid tank and found the flowerhorn and the Texas guarding them. The flowerhorn had it's egg laying tube out so I knew it had to be the flowerhorns eggs.

I found it strange that the flowerhorn was chasing every fish away, EXCEPT the Texas.

Now the flowerhorns chin is really puffed up, like it's holding babies, and it won't eat.

What should I do now, I'd like to save the fry but I've never bred cichlids before some help/advise would be awesome.

Cheers

They chase anything, even fish 4 x there size and then probably wonder why they get eaten.

I pretty sure the brain has been bred out of those fish.

But don't get me wrong you can get some bloody nice h****ds.

Promotion and sales are not allowed.

Questions are.

If he wants to try to breed his ugly ass, throwback, mutant freak by mouthbrooding, by all means, go ahead.

Just don't make FS posts later or announce how good they look. :)

It was a joke.

Sorry you are offended.

But by being a site admin I am donating my time to help towards the running of the site.

I am not committee member and am really the same status as any other club member.

If it upsets you that much, report it and one of the other admins can delete it if they deem it against t&c's.

Give it a rest.

It was a joke. Similar to this entire thread. No need to cry 'poor us non-financial members'.

Ppfffttt being site admin doesn't mean his having a laugh and an opinion privileges are removed. Being site admin simply means Andrew spends countless hours dealing with bullshit to keep this site up and running, thanks Andrew keep up the good work and the laugh's. cheers

Fair point Bowdy, but I still feel a certain level of maturity/respect to other members and less knowledgeable hobbyists is a must from anybody using this forum. Anyone making jokes or making insulting comments about other peoples prized fish should not be accepted whether it be a hybrid or not.

My post was made with a smile too, I was going to suggest that he put her in the freezer overnight to make her egg more viable

Not having a dig at you Werdna but wouldn't asking for advice on how to successfully breed Flowerhorns sort of be promoting them ?

It doesn't really bother me if its post or not but I've noticed every time flower horn is mentioned it causes a stir.. As it states in the link above no discussion about hybrids unless your asking for a ID or Health issue.. Just to shut everyone up I think you should just delete everything to do with them or let everyone discuss them otherwise there's always going to be that select few that will bitch and accuse the committee of unfair treatment..

Not like  any worthwhile advice was given, apart from "Kill it with fire!", or"Holiday in the freezer"...
