i had my fish in the laundry tub for 2 days when one of my smaller tanks gave way a couple of years ago.. cant say it was the best thing to do, but it worked

Acetic acid is a comparatively weak acid, and the quantity released from a seam repair job should not cause any noticeable pH effect in a larger aquarium. What the small amount of acetate may do however, is cause a transient bacterial bloom, although even this should not be a major problem.
