Air Stone: Do You Use It Or Not

I have always found putting them at the base of the tank better, creates a lot more movement in the aquarium... During the heat of summer I find if I use an air stone close to the top it doesn't seem to assist the fish at all... Only down side of having it lower is I find more popping and splashing from bubbles resulting in more cover glass cleans.. Jase

the deeper you put the airstone in your tank the greater the resistance to your air pump... lower the stone smaller the bubbles and less of them... just under the surface = less resistance to air pump -> making huge bubbles and more of them :)

 

ooops did i say that out load :) i think i did 

 

Ah kk. 'Thinking outloud' is just an expression, which gives the user freedom to say something that may not have been well thought out but saying it anyway.
