I would think something organic like that would have to go through quarantine. Seeing as they are still full of moisture, I would think they would be denied entry into W.A.

No chance i'm afraid. Peat being organic and more importantly (To AQIS anyway) of an aquatic nature is nigh on impossible to get into Australia. Even a company like Eheim is under going a current struggle with their dry, processed Ephitorf pellets, they may in the near future be disallowed imports.

just another hyped up product to make money IMO..... plenty of ways to soften your water if thats what you so desire.... i dont see a need as majority of aquarium fish have adapted to different ph values over the years anyway... years ago spawned electric yellows in ph of 6... and b/n in high ph of 8 and over.... just to name a few of the common varities...

I use a combination of indian almond leaves and barley straw pellets (that also contain peat) to condition tanks, works pretty well

I've tried it all….and have come to the conclusion

If you want soft acid water….follow nature

ie RO or rainwater+ organic matter…peat, ketapang leaves, banana leaves

IMO you can't take hard tap water….add something (resins, peat etc) and get water that is optimal for soft water fish

You HAVE to start with soft water i.e. low TDS

Do anything else and you are kidding yourself….and you will reduce the life expectancy of your fish

If getting soft water is a chore….then Tangs work well if your tap water is hard

;)
