Well depends which tank the ones you have are from lol tongue.gif
I took the ones from the first batch in the planted tank, shortly after a new batch came in.
They were bigger but Not as coloured up, I'm assuming cos they just came in?

Im pretty sure I've got a pair but no eggs yet...

This is the male I got biggrin.gif

Nice Pic Ronny!!!

I have just moved my BBs to the retirement tank smile.gif I have decided to leave the LCs in the display tank and see what they can come up with. Just lost another perfectly healthy batch of fry (around 150-200) saw the female dispatch the last one last night after she was abandoned by the male yet again.

Fifth batch I have lost in a couple of months. Mr LC just can't decide which female to pair up with!!! I know I should siphon them out, but I am keen to get a parent raised batch. I am taking out what I believe to be his sister, and keeping him in with my original female to see what happens when the distraction of another female is not tempting him away from his parental duties.

Regards,

Donna

Thanks biggrin.gif
Sorry to hear bout the latest batch.
Removing the female sounds like a good idea.
Have you tried dithers to try and strengthen their bond?
Something like small tetras should do the trick.

Hi Ronny,

That's a good idea. I think however, they have been using the BBs in that way, as they chase them mercilessly taking turns to guard the eggs and fry. I have moved them now, so a few tetra might be a good idea.

Thanks for the suggestion.

In regard to Aquarium One, they have some apistogrammas in stock (or did) Thinking of getting more involved with these guys. Vebas have some pebas I think and one other, so will be paying them another visit as well.

I love the feel of Aquarium One. It reminds of VEBAS, it has the feel of the market place. It is always busy with people negotiating and haggling over their fish, and the tanks are awesome because you never know what you are going to find in there. I really like order, but I love the rhythm of chaos...I hope the shop doesn't get too organised smile.gif

Regards,

Donna

Hopefully he organises the tanks to have plants and fish seperate lol.
A couple of times now I've had to come back another day to pick up fish cos they were just uncatchable in amongst the plants lol.
I'm prettysure he still has the apistos, some blue rams and some big BBs.
I'll try and get in on Sunday to take some pics biggrin.gif
You hsould ask him to, could prolly get some better pics than me.

Hi All.

I have being reading about the new shop in Rockingham since it was first posted ( been a regular since the opening) and agree the shop has come along way but as Kev has said it not finished yet.

I spoke to him this weekend and the shop is going to be open 7 days a week from the 9 of Feb he is seeing how it goes, as he has staff now, so lets give him support to have the shop open every day of the week. I know I have needed things urgently on a Monday and had to go else where and would have rather given him the business.

Also a new batch of fish are coming in Monday quite a few cichlids but we will have to wait two weeks before we can see them but one thing I can say it is about the fish and Kev is always willing to help and know's what the avid hobbist is looking for but he is always keen to found out what the customers are looking for so he can get them in.

The more support we can give the shop, it will go a long way in getting the things we want for our tanks and least we know the fish willbe healthy.

Hmm, did go in there today,
Most of the fish you listed above were there apart form the synodontis decorus and the clown pleco.
I didn't see them but they may have been out the back still.

Other than that the only new fish I saw were, marbled ghost knives, julidichromis reganni, some random american/african cichlids that people have bought in and some other tropheus varients.
I think there was bemba blacks and ikola and maybe kirisa?
All the tropheus are a good size to, mostly about 10-12 cm.

Also, Kev was saying he should be getting in some of the sera range foods biggrin.gif
But he's still looking for an OSI supplier.

Oh yeah, Kev decided to scrap the photo idea sad.gif
So no pics, unless I can twist his arm lol.

Hey Lycan,

Thanks for the heads up....I need some more blood worm so will be dropping in. I have a mind to get some Red Forest Jewels.....but....a bit of disaster around here lately...I have been moving deck chairs on the Titanic it would seem in my tanks.

Mrs Flag (my original) has been beat up real bad this time, along with Mr Krib. I have them in separate tanks, but in the words of the great Donnie Darko....

Y'know what's the point of living... if you don't have a dick?

I can't see the point of Mr Krib going on living if he doesn't have the chance to spawn, without the chance of continuing your species...what good are any of us? So I am stuck in the dilemma. Do I let him back into the tank to fight to the death with sonny boy? Or do I hold him sterile in a small tank so he can live his life?

What do you all think?

Regards,

Donna

Hey Ronny, haven't seen any of your pics for a while....you need to do more smile.gif

Donnie Darko... lol.

Definately some words to live by biggrin.gif

What I would do is keep trying the male with more females or adding in a similar sized male to stir things up.
I don't think any fish should be alone in a tank, even TBs look awesome in numbers biggrin.gif
Unless they are just that aggressive and won't tolerate any other fish, but that fish would have to have some personality for me to keep it lol.

As for pics, I've been taking a few but haven't had time to sort through the hundreds upon hundreds of pics I take lol.

Will be posting up some more soon as I have some new additions and set ups, just have to wait for them to settle in tongue.gif

Bare in Mind Donna, not all fish in the wild get the chance to breed. Only the strongest can share their genes. So where does that put the other fish that aren't able to find mates? It leaves them contributing to the food chain, eating and keeping that balance in check. While they don't breed they are still an important part of the food chain while not contributing to the gene pool of their species they are helping to maintain the strength and integrity of the genes of other species.

I just want to say..... theres more to life and a contribution to this world then spreading your genes.

Hey Saj,

You are so right (edited)

I just felt like quoting Donnie Darko, it's an awesome film, and that line kind of reminded me of what it is like to exist if you have no purpose....of course, you have pointed out, that swelling the gene pool is not the only one.

As for Mr Krib then, he's going back into the tank....to face his own son.....maybe he will be fertiliser for the plants smile.gif

Look forward to seeing more of your pics Ronny.

Regards,

Donna
