Hi all
Heres a pic of my first P. furcatus fry

and also my praecox fry, the water is green but they are growing so fast in there...and somewhere in there are the white/yellow fish mutation that seems to have appeared in the tank...

Oh Graeme..if only you (and Zoe) knew of all the fatalities.
I think the key is that the tanks are really nice and stable now, my maintenance routine is working well, the apistos are breeding like flies (Ive just hatched another 50 or so) and there is a nice growth of green water in the tanks that need it...

Ive worked out the praecox thing..I have a small tank with 2 males and three females...a hunk of java moss floating on teh surface...the adults spawn...the eggs hatch...the dont seem to eat many fry...I have a tank right next to the adult one that is full of green water...every couple of weeks I use a brine shrimp net and scoop up the fry and dump them in teh GW tank and they grow like crazy...the largest is about 8 weeks old and is already 1 cm or so long...I feed them BBS and finely ground flake...there must be enough in the GW to kick them of when theyre very small....
