After a few inquiries on the Aquascaping - Tank Journal competition we have met as a committee to discus in detail judging criteria.
The judges will be a knowledgeable panel of members (not just committee) who will be unable to participate.
We do not want to lock this down to immaculate Biotope only. Is that something that would get marks from judges, quite likely. It is not essential however. We want this to be enjoyable and open for everyone.
We are looking for a nice set-up. We are looking to see if you researched your fish/biotope to find out things. We are looking for how you maintain the tank and its maturity as it progresses.
So you can see the criteria I will post here and amend the comp page to reflect the decision.
Biotope 30%: Species - All animals and plants. Hardscape- Rocks, wood, sand, gravel, leaf litter. Possibly water parameters/colour.
Journal quality 30%: Frequency of journal updates. How comprehensive is the journal? Are all steps well illustrated so they can be easily followed?
Maturity/overall appearance in progress 10%. A mark given as the tank matures over time. Efforts to mature your tank.
Budget 10%: Is the tank filled with the most expensive equipment or skillfully populated with found objects and common stock?
Final appearance 20%: This is judged on the tank’s aesthetic at the end of the competition period (in 6 months).
Hope this helps answer some questions we have had and help you start the project YOU want complete.
Thanks
