Read the articles, a very small percentage of those available which confirm that immunity CAN be genetic
If you disagree then as a supposed scientist, please attach a link completely refuting that immunity can never have a genetic basis
Otherwise you make unsubstantiated claims
Viruses DO mutate, just because it hasn't been discovered yet in KHV is not a guarantee that it will never happen

Your articles support the two processes I mentioned in previous post in particular the mutation part
HIV
carry a genetic mutation that makes them highly resistant to HIV infection. This mutation, called Delta32, keeps a protein called CCR5 from rising to the surface of the immune system’s T cells
Hep c
This Review discusses the possibility that genetic mutations confer resistance against hepatitis C virus
These are genetic mutations which generally occur at conception and are not adaptive immunity. The post prior was saying the carp that do develop immunity through adaptive immunity will not pass this on to their offspring in response to the comments made in the quoted post about carp not every kingdom. The chicken pox bit was an example of an instance immunity isn't passed on to put it into perspective but bostaves example would have been more fitting.

Im not sure why there is an argument about the carp population developing immunity, its already proven to happen overseas and expected to happen here.
Mr Warrick was sceptical the project would see the 95 per cent success rate as touted by the Federal Government.
He said the species' numbers in Israel had rebounded since the virus was released.
The carp that survived the virus in Israel became immune to it.

I just saw an article shared by Recfishwest on their facebook page. Extra salt killed a lot of feral carp or something along those lines? Happy days

They are implementing a similar strategy to control rabbits. The previous attempt could not wipe out the rabbit population in cooler regions of nsw. The recent attempt will target the rabbit population in these regions.
despite all the rabbit viruses released and those that have escaped onto mainland and the more recent virus believed to have originated from afghanistan that hitched a ride illegally on an illegally smuggled rabbit (i assume) HAVE STILL FAILED to wipe out feral rabbits.. we have newly born babies everywhere at the moment to the delight of my dogs
the same will happen to the carp... except carp breed like rabbits x 100,000 and as seen in israel years after khv was released the carp population has rebounded to previously levels... honestly you may as well go down to the river and throw stones at them... what a total waste of time and tax payers money...

The new virus has been modified to address limitations of the virus tried before.

not sure exactly how nsw rabbits travelled approx 3000km to perth and arrived in my back yard.... oh i know - perhaps the viruses released to kill rabbits didnt work....
just like khv wont work....
soon they'll be releasing viruses to control kangaroo population that has recently exploded up our way with all the early rains the grass is 5 foot tall - same time last year the grass wasnt even green.... makes it easy to shoot roos for dog food though

How about the government giving aid to malnourished kids overseas in carp fillets for school lunches maybe ? Isn't a massive biomass die off in a river a concern as well? Where are they with the daughterless carp gene splicing seemed the best solution to me ?
