Have begun hatching smile.gif

About 3 fry are not orange lasers, I believe they are habrosus.

Well, I have 2-3 week old fry numbering around 100ish, but now they seem to have gone into the same stage like the others where they are dying quite frequently, I'm not sure why, the container they're in now has a thin layer of sand and I perform daily water changes. I have about 8 larger fry probably about a cm or so, geez their growth rate is slow tho, they are around 2 months old.

I believe water hardness can have adverse effects on Cory`s so that may be one possible reason ?

Hopefully someone more experiened in Cory`s can help ? Terry ? Oliver ?

Cheers

With your water changes are you using aged water or new water. I've found some fry to be very susceptible to even the slightest changes in water parameters (temp in particular).

I like to do bigger water changes on a nearby tank daily and then use that 'fishified' water to water change for the fry.

I've also found sticking a couple of adults or larger juvis from a previous spawn in with the fry, once they are big enough not to get eaten of course, also helps the growth rate...

I'll use aquarium water for the next few days and see how it goes.

yeah i've basically given up on having great hatch rates and raising of the fry.

I still have about 40-50, around 10-15 have their orange stripe now smile.gif

Ok a couple old pics i decided i would finally upload, the ones of the regular orange lasers are a couple weeks old.

Fry.

My special fry, not sure what it is, perhaps nerve damage, the top is darkish and so is it's dorsal fin, however I think it may be a hybrid between an adolfoi and the orange laser because sometimes it looks to be developing an eye band.

well the picture of the darker cory is from today, however i find these cories to grow very very slowly... I wouldn't declare them ready for sale for another one or two months yet. They need to be at least a good inch and packing on some width.

Latest batch of eggs are going decent, around a 95% hatch rate and only a couple casualties so far. I've added another 2 sponge filters, hopefully that reduces some of the casualties.
