Nice tank!!! it's huge.

Quick question im going to make a tank tomorrow and I was wondering what size hole you needed for them 40mm overflows and can you get all those bulkhead fittings seen in yours at bunnings?

Also 40mm is 1.5 inchs isnt it?

50mm hole for 40mm pipe. 50mm is 2 inches:) my fittings are the cheaper route from bunnings, but a company starting with the letter 'h' makes proper bulk heads for 40mm pipe. what size tank are you making? if your going for 5000lph of flow through the overflow, i would recommend dual overflows, for obvious reasons. i would think that up to about 3500lph you would be safe in terms of noise with a singe 40mm pipe overflow.

40mm is about 1.6 inches i think:)

Im making a 6x2x2 and im probably going to have like 2400lph pump.

Also do you think 8mm glass would sufficient for a tank this size?

no way, go for 10mm, anything 2ft high needs 10mm or thicker. are you making it yourself?

yes, however i cannot see why my fittings wouldn't be suitable for anyone else. they have worked for me for over a yr now in multiple tanks;) the other black bulkheads cost about $20 at bunnings, where as my setup costs about $8 smile.gif i had to go the cheap option on this as buying bulkheads would be too easy and not diy, the purpose of this whole exercise:) keep an eye out in the classifieds people, might be letting go of some of my fish such as my colony of 5 l. mbamba's which are the same as daniels:)

at the head height iam running the sump, its turnover is rated at about 5klph. the sump is not coping, and iam looking to upgrade it. inside the tank i have about 7klph turnover via powerheads connected to sponges. i need advice for upgrading the sump smile.gif

well sorry i have only played with 3 very small sumps and i wasnt to keen on them you have an awsome turn over in the tank ! but i would get a 72x2x2 or a 60x2x2 and step up the lph

when i used to keep heavly stocked tanks i found the power heads used to let me down also,

i feel when it comes to filtering coffee fuel oil you cant go past presurised filtering it gives a better deeper cleaner clean lols butt hats hard to do with a sump

or just cut back of the fish load ? put in one or two tb,s
