Once again they have bred, so I have removed them from the big tank and put the parents and fry into a small tank, so far all is good

#348746 Babies :)

Hello all,
Just did my weekly water change on the 6 foot tank and a few hours later was just looking to see how my new Silver Dollars that were bought today were doing and what the F--K there was my Princess swimming around trying to ward off several very large sharks and some other cichlids.
A mad panic as my daughter watched on, sucked the babies out with a tube and into a small tank they go.
Hopefully they will survive.
Cheers

#345903 My First Cichlid Babies, What Now?
Posted by Bunky twincam on 19 October 2015 - 04:17 PM
Hello all,
I have a colony of Kadango and one of the females is holding, she may have been holding for a few days.
What do I do now?
I have read that the gestation period is about three weeks, when should I either move her or strip her?
I have not dealt with cichlid babies before.
1.Do I strip her into a new small tank and just try and raise the fry?
2. Leave her and hope for the best?
3. Do I put her into the fry tank and wait for her to spit out the babies?
Cheers
