After Spending Saturday Stumbling Around Bells Rapids With My Kids I Have Developed An Interest Or At Least A Curiosity About Species occupying The river.
I Have Googled the Topic Without Much Luck.
Can Someone Point Me In The Right Direction?
Much appreciated.

Taste the water at Bells' Rapids. It's quite salty even in winter. No fish lave up there these days and even the birds are scarce as they can't drink it in summer. The superphosphate and herbicide does not help either. Nearly a dead river.
Pretty though...

Summer there is a dead zone.
Apart from the flies and dead black bream?

Well, it's true the flies seem to enjoy it. Just noticed the birds prefer somewhere they can get a drink too.

Closer to the coast you may find western hardy head and black bream.
The biggest problem you will face is knowing where to look and how to look.
Bait traps are illegal to use in freshwater.
