Fresh Water Refugium Plants And Substrate

20 January 2015 - 11:35 PM

Finally got the time and finished my 6x2x2 tank with a 48x18x18"  sump.   Have set up a refugium approximately 1.5ft of the 4ft.

So my question is what people are using for substrate and if sand/gravel would suffice?

What plants do people recommend or use in their own refugium?

I plan to have some plecos living amongst it all and possibly some feeder fish.

cheers

Fresh Water Sump Design

21 November 2014 - 12:12 PM

Hi all, about to set up my 6x2x2 shortly and Was hoping to get some ideas for other peoples setups for their sumps. I have a 4x1x1 ft spare tank I plan to use for the sump. I hope to have a refugium in the sump to keep my peppermint colony/plants too.
As glass is too hard to work and expensive, I'll probably be using perspex and silcon for the compartments.

Let me know what you are using and any good sump designs you have seen!

Cheers
