I’ve started raising baby brine shrimp again – something I haven’t done for a long while. I’ve bought eggs from a couple of local sources but have had very poor hatch rates despite experimenting with a variety of conditions.  I’m guessing the eggs have been sitting around on a shelf for too long, possibly not in the best of environments.

I want to buy a larger quantity, but I’m obviously keen to get fresh supplies.  Any tips from people who regularly hatch BBS for a good source and brand of 425gm (1lb) containers with a reliable hatch rate?

I have purchased several different brands from different shops.

I have definitely found that those which has been on the shelf a long time hatch rate is not very good. The last batch I bought was from AoA, and the hatch rate was significantly better that the others I have tried in the past. I did only buy a small packet, not the bigger containers. Maybe the smaller packets turnover is more than the containers?? Which then result in higher hatch rate?

Anyway, just my little experience.

Have bought several tins of AAA grade 425s from https://www.primo.net.au. Seems alright.
