looks good, what's the best way to filter that sort of set up - under gravel?

I'd still go canister, just hide it by drilling the bottom of the tank or hide it in a background etc. The problem with under gravel filters is cleaning them, which can be quite disruptive for a permanent scape. Most of these tanks get set up at an event and aren't set up for long.

Biotopes are awesome.
I for one have really focused on replicating biotopes lately. Seems more interesting scaping, maintaining and stocking a true natural piece of aquaria.
