#340358 Routine Water Change.......fronty Colony Gone!

Posted by Graddo on 11 June 2015 - 06:35 PM

UPDATE: I've been in contact with Busselton Water and they admitted there had been a "stuff up" ( in their words) Within an hour, there was one of their employees at our house to test our tap water. 2.7mg per litre! That's more than 5 times the "ideal" level of chlorine!! Nevertheless, they said they would compensate my loss.   Thanks for all your thoughts guys. These fish were my pride and joy, and it goes without saying, but I did shed a tear or two. But now it's about rebuilding and making those responsible pay!!

Anyone have any idea where I can get Endlers from?

Aquotix usually have a few types. That's where I got mine from.

Finally got myself a little jack. Cost me $50 with a couple of trade ins. So stoked. It's about 7cm and has so much character already. More than willing to "take care of" my every growing guppy population for me too! :)

Everytime someone posts discus photos, I get more and more into the idea of setting up a little planted tank with a few nice discus.
Best looking discus imo. Very nice!

Nice " Handbags " hey mate?

Just go to Aquotix mate. SOR I know, but $5 for micro worm culture and $14.95 for 15g brine shrimp cysts with excellent hatching rate, and you're sorted. Its worth the drive for quality, and I live in Busselton!

How about rainwater tanks? These would be great to house TB's. Worked at a place that housed broodstock barramundi in 20,000 litre water tanks with Perspex windows. Females were well over a metre / 20kg. Approx 10 fish per tank with no probs. Spawnings regularly.

Ahh now these ones look like better candidates for females.,
The one with the "hairs" on the face could be a male, but someone once told me that even females can be hairy just like humans    *cough cough Johnno*

IMO I would say a young immature male, But I could be wrong.

Hairy females are not humans mate!!!!

Do you cook the zucchini before you put it in the tank for them? They need it to be softened before eating it, also parboiled pumpkin and blanched spinach is good for them.

My plecos also like sera flora flakes.

I never cook the zucchini before I put it in for my bristlenose. They love it raw too, so I don't reckon it's a necessity.

#297011 G'day From The Southwest

Posted by Graddo on 08 October 2013 - 09:30 PM

G'day guys! Well, I walked into an aquarium store the other day, for the first time in 10 years(Aquotix)...and all I can say its great to be back. Currently reside in Dunsborough and always keen to learn a thing or two. When I was a lot younger, I was obsessed with cichlids, particularly rift lake cichlids. It all came to end when I met my wife, travelled, had a kid, built a house....and so on. Well guess what? Im back! I can't believe how far this hobby has progressed within Australia within the last decade! Congrats on a great site guys, it really is a hub for those interested in fish keeping. Looking forward to
being a contributor for many years to come.

So far this time around my collection includes some juvenile peppermint bristlenose and albino bristlenose which I'm hoping to breed from some day. I've also got a heap of dwarf snakeskin guppies and black bar endlers. I've got plans for a fronty tank, some l numbercatties and am particularly keen on tanganikan cichlids.

So, G'day from me and I'm forward to being a part of this great hobby again!
