I want to get a good quality 3D background for a 6x2x2 tank. Someone told me to try and get a "Universal Rock" branded 3D background.

I found a link to these backgrounds here: http://www.aquariump...=6558&catID=122

Has anyone on this forum used these backgrounds? And how do you fix it to the aquarium? Or are there any other brands of 3D backgrounds that are available?

Just trying to get some information before I go looking at my LFS on the weekend. Thanks

Universal rock is an actual brand of artificial, back drops etc Bird and Fish place where the wholesalers for it I believe several years ago.

Shop around, im sure a few LFS have some form of background in stock.

The backgrounds iv dealt with just fit snug between base if tank and the horizontal strapping that you place your lids on.

Jules & Bermont: Is this Bird and Fish place still running? Is that the place in Wattle Grove?

Androo: you didn't need to silicon or glue the background to your tank?

Jason,

I bought a Universal Rock background from Bird and Fish Place in Wattle Grove about 9 months ago. It is fantastic - highly recommend! So realistic.

It is a bit of a paid to install though. I just siliconed it. Some of them come with magnets - however you need to buy the second half of the magnet yourself and that can be quite pricey.

Cheers

Andrew

You do need to attatch it to the back unless your keeping big fish. Last thing you want is it just siting there and a fish find its way behind , die a d foul your tank up.
Also wouldn't waste your money on any background if your keeping algae grazing fish as they will chew the paint off it and it will look shit.

yes they are still open, they are closed sundays, its worth the trip if you have kids as they have i spose scale dinosaurs and animals (raptors, giraffe, sharks, sheep, elephants, all sorts of things)

Best backgrounds Iv ever seen at http://www.aquadecor...ke-pozadine.php

Bit pricey but worth every cent if your aiming for a display tank that will make jaws drop, definitely keen to get one when I start to build my new 6x2x2 display :)

I've had a post up about this once before and lm pretty sure Ice said he siliconed magnets to the back of the back ground then placed magnets on back of tank to hold it in place, obliviously you would have to get proper magnets but l thought this is a Awesome idea as it make it easy to take it out of the tank ;)

The magnets ice used were worth a few hundred from memory. Just silicon it in. Easy.

Not if you ever wanted to get it off again, I haven't looked around but l would defiantly think there would be somewhere to get them cheaper then a few hundred!!

Hehe those backgrounds are easy to get off after siliconed on. You only need a little silicon to hold it on. Il give you a hand if you want Jason.
