I recently bought a 800l outdoor tub for aquaponics with cichlids, but at the moment have decided against cichlids for now, i have goldfish in there and was wondering what else i could put out there with them, the temp gets down under 10degrees some nights, so i was wondering what else would survive but not kill the goldfish haha

cheers

Rosy barbs are great survivers, I have them in my koi pond to keep out the mozzies. They multiply rapidly through the summer months. Start of with tiny ones so they get use to the goldfish and don't start nipping the goldfish fins. They get very bright red in the natural sunlight to.

Just about anywhere, where you live any city farmer or barn city. You get ten and by end of this summer they will multiply to one hundred and ten. Take them into shops and swap for goldfish food.

Hah hah, YOU.
No cold water algae eaters. Best you can do is a pleco for the warm months and take him out the cool months.

i have read that the common bristle nose will live in a pond so long as they are climatised to it so adding them in summer would be best! as adding them now would give them a shock!

i have a native snail that demolishes algae in my outside tank which is very close to freezing water... water is so cold i reckon if it wasnt agitated by the pump it would have a layer of ice on it during these cold mornings....

pm me if you want some... and you'll see the proof they work.... goldfish in one tank and they obviously eat the snails and its green as... below tank with platies in is spotless... unbelievable but fair dinkum true!!!
