Has anyone seen these style tubes in Perth or Aus?

Found some in China but for shipping I think it'd be more economical to do a ply/fibreglass build.

Thanks, Kieran

There are hundreds on Alibaba Fish Tank from various vendors.

I've sent off a fair few emails a few days ago but no reply so far.

They look like decent tanks, I think most sizes are about 6x3x3 and 8x4x4.

Would be awesome if a few people got interested and we could get a container over if the price is right!

Kieran.

Computerlog put me onto these. $2200 for shipping apparently.

They do look great though.

Those are really good prices, pity about the huge shipping costs. If there were a pile of others who got em the shipping would be way less and very inviting indeed

Well those are located in Florida so I can only assume shipping from China would be cheaper!

Still no replies though, will shoot off a few more emails this weekend when I get time.

I talked to the sales rep at Rapid Plastics when i was thinking about setting up an aquaponics farm here in WA. I wanted to source as much gear (tubs and grow beds) as i could through the company that actually moulds the stuff that is sold retail through aquaponics outlets. They cannot sell some of their AP products direct because the retailers here in Perth own the moulds they use but he did say that if there was a market for something new that he would look into it. You could try writing him and sening him a link to the products you like and find out what they can do; andrew.hill@rapidplastics.com.au or check out their catalogue on page 28-29 for great prices on aqualculture stuff but heaps of other products that could work too; http://www.rapidplas...escatalogue.php
You could also buy one of there free standing cattle drinking tubs (up to 5000 litres) and fit a perspex window into it...
all the best crew,

Yeah alot cheaper! Got a quote of $950 for fibre glassing plus gel coat. So looking at probably about $1500 complete with stand and enough new K1 media to add to my filtration.

So roughly $3000 cheaper and its still an 1800LTR tank.

Let ya know if it holds water wink.gif

I got the quote back for a 8x4x3 fibre glass tank with window, lid, and filter box.

From Malaysia

1,850 rm or around $580 Aud I believe.
Not bad at all!

A full container from china is approx $2500, shipping agents can organise partial containers + insurance for you.

So anyone actually been successfully getting these to Oz for a decent price? Assuming no. But by all means let me know because if be keen to chip in for a container.

Did alot of research before i started building a bigger TB tank. I found no one who has shipped one of these to Aus succsefully. With the tight TB community "maybe not tight" but the decent humans, I would think we would all have 3000+LTR tanks if it were this easy........

I a few many ppl who have looked into these ideas, but no one has gone through with it.
Cost of freight and the taxes etc, well outweight the intial product cost and make it ridiculous.
However if this was viable and was to go through, im in.

Too many Indians not enough Chiefs for the most part.

No good saying count me in and waiting for someone else to do all the hard work for you.

Look into it, it really isn't all that difficult.
