Well I've been busy, and don't have much time to fully coordinate a group buy but from what I've been looking into it seems extremely reasonable.

Can send people the emails I have sent and received in regards to this if interested.

Hey mate send me through the emails, if I could convince the misses I might be keen. Agree with previous poster (dave06) there's no need for the negativity, thats the reason people lose interest in this joint.

You will probably have to pay gst on the tanks as well, so budget an extra 10% on the tank cost just in case smile.gif

Okay, Here is some of the rates I was quoted by the supplier in Malaysia

These calculations are based on 8'x3'x4' tank with Glass, Cover & Filter box.

Exchange rate: 1 Malaysian Ringgit equals 0.31 Australian Dollar

Calculations based on an 8'X3'X4' tank (96'³)
In metric 2.43mX1.22mX0.91m tank (2.7m³)

So One tank would be 2.7 cubic meters.

Shipping Charges-----------------------------------TOTAL
LCR charges - RM 40.0 per cbm----------------RM 108.0
Bill of Landing - RM 140.0 per set---------------RM 140.0
E-Manifest Fee - RM 30.0 per set----------------RM 30.0
Warehouse Charges - RM 12.0 per cbm------RM 32.4
FAF Charges - RM 2.0 per cbm-------------------RM 5.4
Penang Port Charges - RM 1.40 per cbm-----RM 3.78

Custom Brokerage Charges
EDI Fee - RM 30.0 per set--------------------------RM 30.0
Forwarding Charges - RM 120.0 per shpt-----RM 120.0

So a total of RM 469.58

Excluding the 6% tax

So for a 8x3x4' With Glass & Cover - RM 1,700.0
+ Optional filter box - RM 150.0
Shipping per 2.7m³ Unit - RM 469.58

TOTAL - RM 2319.59 or $717.99 AUD

As you can see this is extremely low!! So I've asked for confirmation.

Now I am unsure of what other hidden costs come into it on the Australia importation side of things.
If anyone can help or point me in the right direction I can look into it.

Here is the original shipping quote before my calculations.

I'd say at least double it and you should be around the mark.

Thats what I am trying to find out!

sandgroper you say at least double it (and of course those figures would seem more accurate) but how have you come to this conclusion?

Those figures where the quote for 1 tank and shipping costs from the supplier. Im guessing other import fees/taxes would come into but where can I find this information?

Trying to do what I can with the time I have to find out if this is a viable option, those tanks would be perfect for TB's!

I remember Sam johns wanted to get an acrylic tank it from OS the tank and shipping was a great price but import taxes and charges made it not viable.

I'd rather stay on my high horse, the view is a good one. Don't waste your breath telling me what to do. smile.gif

You guys will also have to factor in handling costs once your tanks arrive in Fremantle.

Yeah alot cheaper! Got a quote of $950 for fibre glassing plus gel coat. So looking at probably about $1500 complete with stand and enough new K1 media to add to my filtration.

So roughly $3000 cheaper and its still an 1800LTR tank.

Let ya know if it holds water wink.gif

How's it coming along dude?
