if you can start them off as small and grow them together it may work. i tried mature ones but ended as a failure. my tank is 2.6x1x.75. I'm doing another trial with americans as companions and having some luck keeping some (oscar, jaguar, blackbelt and reddevil) alive. If i can get some cheaper jardini's I might risk it again. i think i have some pics on MFK of my jardinis.

not my thread, but since it's related to the topic, i found a pic of the saratogas together.

At one time i had 3 jardinis and 1 lichardti on the tank, but my attempt failed and ended with the black jardini - the "poor man's arowana" as the surviror and a keeper.

Ive had 3 leis together, was fine for a couple months, then one morning one started smashing the others, so had to sell them (they where all of about 15cm odd).
good luck! be interesting if it works but if your trying to bred Im pretty sure I read they bred in dams etc not in smaller confined ac tubs etc.
you got access to more jardinis? please share

yeah I hope it works, the big tank is 3.6m across by 1.1 deep so I think enough room not to sure
na Jules just been collecting them on and off, so now I have 8 of them all 400-600mm long

Hi mate.
Im experience with Saratogas are that keeping 3/4 30cm plus are always better and usually a lot more calmer and usually get along.
Its when you keep 10/15cm ones that the are young and still growing up and a lot of aggression and not as calm.
but I have been lucky I guess with mine.
