i have been keeping arowana and fresh water rays back in singapore since 2003. i know asian arowana is banned from import here, so im looking at other alternatives. though it would be great if i can get my hands on some asian arowana though.
regards,
Hans

Have a you had a look at local shops yet? Check out the list of sponsor stores and have a look. For tank building, I can personally recommend Aquotix, but have also heard good things about AAA, Vebas and Morley Aquarium.

Your gonna be so disappointed with what we can get here weve got nothing like what you can get in singapore.....
Any birchir will start at $180 to $800
Silver aro at about $350 + even for a baby.
Black Aro not sure maybe $750- $1000? but very rare.
Rays have have dropped in price lately from $1400 down to I think you can get a pair for about $1200 now.
Asian Aro Rare and Illegal at crazy prices.
But native Jardini probably same price that you pay in Singapore.

Its crazy that Saratoga are more expensive here than other countries, I cant believe it!
Also in singapore I've seen the Platinum Jardini Variant where here you can just find the standard Jardini.
Told you you would be disappointed.

Vebas regularly stocks the jardinis, leis and a few other exotic fish, but if you speak to the shop assistants or PM them on here I'm sure they can get a lot of special things in for you.

hahaha... i think i'll juz get some silver arowanas n make a comm. juz hope that asian arowana ban will be lifted cuz asian arowana r no longer wild caught. there r lots of farm breeding arowana in singapore, theres endless supply of asian arowana in sg, theres no breeding season for these fish. asian arowana is being exported to far away countries like japan, china n even canada. this does not include malaysian n indonesian breeders too.
and who would wanna dump such prized fish into australian eco system? dun understand y the govt is banning asian arowana imports.

We get Silver Aros sent from the Eastern States and I hear now the Quarantine guys are now clamping down on that so not sure who still brings them over.

these r taken from rully-arwana.com, an indonesian farm breeding super red asian arowana. look at the batch of jardini they import. dats massive. since jardini cost S$30 in singapore, it will be much cheaper in indonesia, could even be 1/3 of S$30.
i still cant believe jardini cost way much down here when its allowed to export in large batches at a cheaper price.

well... in that case, australian should breed more of its native arowana so that it will be cheaper. dun u think so its a good idea to do so. i was thinking of getting some silver arowana n breed them if possible as a hobby. not forgetting some rays too.
