Try putting the rock into your fry tank, saves the parents eating them wink.gif

**update** on the eggs and pair,

the eggs are going fine, the black dot in the middle is now visible, i have about 10 - 15 non fertile eggs and water tests are perfectly similar to my 4 foot, due to the water changes (every 3 days, 15%)

the pair have been at it again cleaning the rock, lip locking and tail slapping... so i suppose more eggs this week sometime wacko.gif i'll have to buy a cheap catty to nail the eggs at night, to be finished by the parents in the day tongue.gif (in the 4 foot)

well thats all, just thought i'd keep you informed wink.gif check out the pics above ^^^^^

Gday Tom

Why do you want the eggs in the parent's tank to be eaten? If you can get them to the stage of caring for the young themselves that'll be a bonus.

yea thats a point daz, but i don't have any spare tanks, and if they by chance hatch them i don't really want to leave the fry in the parents tank... it'll be wayy too much hassle getting them out.. i suppose i could try tongue.gif

p.s. i don't think this belongs in the photo album anymore... if it doesn't you can move it wink.gif

cheers, tom

Hey Tom

Heard of the term "don't count your chickens before they hatch"? I'd apply that here. I wouldn't assume that you're going to get flooded with 1000's of babies you can't look after. Even if this was the case there's heaps of people here that would be happy to raise them for you.

Monitor the eggs in the nursery tank, see what the hatch and survival rate is like over time.

Leave any new eggs in the parent's tank and compare as above. If the fry reach free swimming stage without the parents eating them then you've got a nice strong pair bond.

Observe and learn! smile.gif

Daz

P.S. - Is fine to leave this in the Photo Album.... just add more pics in time tongue.gif
