Juvenile Americans

17 April 2016 - 11:39 AM

Hi all.

Thought I'd throw up a post to see what is around.

Looking for interesting Americans. Either display specimens or juvies to grow out.

If anyone has something they want to rehome, or you have fry for sale let me know.

Will consider anything, but specifically looking for the unusual or hard to find.

Cheers

Freshwater Sump Design

03 January 2016 - 04:20 PM

Hi Guys
I'm in the process of setting up a new tank and would value some input in my proposed sump design.

Tank is 3000x900x750 and sump is 800x750x610. I will be keeping large Americans.

External footprint of the sump is limited to the size shown. Anything else in the way of configuration can be changed.
At the moment my choice of media is sponges followed by K1 followed by Marine Pure, but none of that is set in stone if anyone can suggest better options. My main goal is to maximise filtration/biological reaction within the space I have.

I'd value any suggestions or criticisms anyone would care to give.

Ebjd Takes A Hiding

22 September 2015 - 04:03 PM

Came home from work to find one of my EBJD I have in grow out has been bashed by his tankmates. He's still breathing but has lost large amounts of scale and isn't swimming.
I've moved him to quarantine but because of his condition I'm hesitant to add anything to the water that might cause additional stress.

What are people's thoughts on treating a badly damaged fish? Would you add any meds or just ride it out and hope he survives?

Thanks in advance guys.

EDIT: Fish has died...was unlikely to survive regardless I guess.
