Anyone seen this plant or any other crinum plants available in WA? Would like to know if they can be sourced at all, and whether they would grow under normal output t5's with Dino dung and a weekly liquid fert dose. Any help appreciated

Thanks

as far as i know they need CO2, there is some available thru scarab or chen most likely, but they need a fair amount of light, im running a quad t5 setup on my 6' planted tank and its barely enough, the Fluval LED's grow them great tho, they grow anything

Aquotix have had it on a number of occasions I believe.

Expect to pay $200 (retail) for a decent sized plant.

Dam! I was hoping I could get away without co2.
This is the tank:

Substrate is small round gravel pebbles, and I thought that using Dino dung near the roots of the plant would be ok. Might have to upgrade the lighting and get co2, although I would rather not if I can get away with it
$200? Wow must be a rare plant

your gonna want a thicker layer of substrate if you wanna grow rarer plants, my small planted tanks all use aqua soil and i get amazing results, my large planted tank has a soil and sand mix aswell as some raised areas of just soil for plants, its gooa cause it helps buffer the PH of the water too. you could get away with running say 3-4 HOT5 tubes using blue, acitinic and white to get enough light but its gonna put out a lot of heat and high power usage, a crinum sold at last auction for about $120 i believe, aquotix have one on display which is a huge specimen.

Ok thanks for the advice everyone
Will give it some thought and hopefully be able to give one of these crinum plants a crack
This is a pic of the gravel up close

Got 50kg of the stuff, so it should be plenty deep enough to push plants in to the substrate

Funky looking plant. Looks different to Graeme's plant though. Are they the same type of crinum?
