Don't remove bristle worms they don't hassle anything apart from your hand if you touch them and they clean up all the scraps.

Thanks, I tried to catchit with tweezers it the worms are just too fast with all the LR in the tank. Will leave them now.

Im picking it all up tomorrow. So excited. Wont be wet though for a good 3-4 weeks (gotta sell a few reptiles first)

going for a 400cube. going tunze nano stream wavemakers internally (vortech sale fell through so will make do with whats left) and beefing up the return pump (has a back wall compartment for filtration) to an eheim powerhead

I got the LEDs

I got my ATO unit ready to go.

thinking skimerless to start off with (only housing a pair of percula clowns) and will do 10% waterchanges twice a week to ensure nutrients are down yet replace essential nutrients for the inverts. BUT have a tunze 9002 skimmer just in case I wanna hook it up.

The back compartment will run a course sponge and several ZEOvit chemical removers as well as purigen.

Going to go for a minimalistic live rock approach and try to create a bonsai style reef.

I'd highly recommend you run a skimmer all the time though because when I took mine out of my tank for a week for repairs I had 3 times as much algae and phosphate went quite high.

I will be re-scaping the tank soon for more footprint for corals. I'd love to get some SPS frags.

like I said I have a skimmer but don't want to run it.

going for a low tech system as I had before, in which many sps survived and maintained colour and a growth rate of nearly 1 cm every 5-6 weeks!

I find purigen and phos zorb (sea chem products) to be excellent to remove the protein molecules etc and reduce phosphates and silicates which encourage the algae growth. along with large water changes!

Different reef systems work better for some then others, ive seen the most complex of reef systems out done by the simplest of tanks that run nothing but live rock, no substrate and tonnes of water flow.

 

As with the bristle worms, there is a constant debate wether they are good or bad.

Me personally had a nano tank riddled with them, to the point where when I rinsed out my filter sponge id get pricked by a bristle worm, I have read that some eat corals etc (leathers of the sacrophyton and sinulaira sp) and to me they look bloody ugly. but do your research and see what you think.

I went to Seaview the other day and couldn't resist one of the little Ocellaris clowns they got in.

She is now hosting the bubble tip Nem.

What a little champ!

Nothing more rewarding then a clown hosting a nem.

Im not game enough to try anemones, had one in the past that never sat in a good position, stung multiple corals (including expensive scollymia sp.) then went all kamikaze jumping into a pump having its foot shredded!

Sorry to hear about the scolys, my nem has stung the hammer a little bit.

I have found an aptasia so I will soon get a peppermint shrimp to eat it.

The little clownfish has been biting the hammer and torch coral and I think he stung his mouth because his mouth is staying open. (bit weird)

I will be setting up my 3 foot as a marine as well with a carpet nem with a pair of Ocellaris

perppermint shrimp or inject with straight calcium will do the trick.

Looking good mate, some nice growth out of your corals.

 

I hate Xenia, I'm surprised stores actually sell the stuff for money! Became a massive pest in my last tank. In a nano it should be fine as it can easily be removed. I reckon the stuff would grow in a puddle on the floor.

Thanks mate. To be honest I didn't really want the Xenia. It came on the live rock.

I have added a Peppermint shrimp to get rid of the aptasia.

Strange all xenia and octo type corals I could never keep alive, some ppl have it grow nuts, and others it just deteriorates.

Ill definitely be trying to grow the stuff< such a stunning looking soft coral.

The Xenia in my tank has grown like crazy since I started feeding the fish brine shrimp instead of pellets.
