Hi everyone,

I have a two foot planted tank. Only has a carpet of lilaeopsis braziliensis growing well on eco complete and a single t8 flouro. However, I am quite enjoying this planted tank stuff and want to go further with this tank.

What do I need to buy to set me up for one or two bubbles per second in my 2 foot (approx 90 litres I think). I would like to look around mid range.

Thanks,

Donna

We have a new system just in, it is a disposable 95G Co2 cartridge with regulator and all the bits to get you going. Best thing is, if you want to use a normal CO2 bottle later, all you need is an adaptor (I'll throw it in) that will let you use the regulator on the normal CO2 bottles in use in Australia....

will post up price soon as I get back to work....

Thanks Krystal,

I am very happy with that price and the gear. Looks like just what I need to make a start. Thanks for taking the time to quote.

No worries Donna.

Here is an example of how the regulator can be adapted onto a larger CO2 bottle.....Here we have adapted it onto a 3.5kg Bottle available from Aquotix.

We have adapted the Hydor NRG Pressure Reducer

And here is the regulator from the CO2 System mentioned in post #2

Nothing wrong with a 3rd setup is there???

Thanks for the question Donna. cool.gif

Not a problem at all....

If you already have a Hydor NRG system, you can get the adaptor by itself to use the regulator on a standard bottle.... a brilliant new product!!

They can.....

An inline solenoid can be purchased separately, the solenoid then plugs into the pH controller.

Wow thread mine much? smile.gif

Just out of interest, what's the cost like of disposable vs swapping the usual size bottle over say 12 months?

Also are 6kg or so bottles available for CO2? Might have to go to BOC for that one though.

Its a lot cheaper in the long run to purchase a 3.5kg bottle, Dual Gauge Reg with solenoid, pH controller and all accessories in kit form in one hit.....we do a cheaper price if purchased all together. Also in terms of CO2 usage a larger bottle is more economic and cheaper to fill compared to buying disposable bottles.

But in reality its a cost that no one wants to outlay in one hit, by getting your equipment in stages it does cost more but you can do it at your own pace.

Will find out about a larger bottle for you Kieran.....we stick with the 3.5kg bottles cause they're manageable and suitable for practically all aquarium volumes.

I only ask because a few times I've visited fishkeepers with 4 or 6 outlet solenoid valves on their little CO2 bottle smile.gif

Also the refill would be like once every 12 months lol.

the 3.5kg bottles are very popular Australia wide, so there are plenty of places that offer swap and go for those bottles (like the LPG at the servo) this is often easier than waiting several days for the 6kg bottles to be refilled..... the 6kg bottles are also a lot more expensive due to the lower number being sold compared to the 3.5kg bottles.... and if you want to rent one from BOC, then ask how much per year...... last I looked, it was $100 plus...... I bought mine second hand... but I will have to have it serviced (every 10 years) soon.... that's an added cost.

Hey Krystal, what would be the cost of a solenoid and controller if I wanted to get those down the track?
