Current planned specs for the new HTPC/Mild Gamer build (when the whole P67 issue is sorted out):
CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-C14
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD4
RAM: Corsair 2x2GB DDR3
Graphics: Gigabyte ATI HD5750 Silent Cell 1GB
TV Tuner: Not 100% sure yet. Not likely to be ripping off our poor quality signal.
PSU: Seasonic X-650 80Plus Gold
OS Drive: Some form of SSD, probably a Corsair Force Series 60GB
Storage Drive/s: Samsung EcoGreen F4 2TB. Prob 6 to begin, but up to 12 eventually
RAID Controller: Intel RS2BL040 or similar
Case: Lian Li PC-A71FB (I like the Fractal R3 but they don't cool well enough for a silent GPU)
Hoping I can source at least some of that through Synetrix

Kieran, for your planned rig, depending on what your going to use it for, i think you should get a better graphics card. i know you are getting it because its silent but graphics cards dont really even make that much noise, my 5770 is probably the quietest thing in my pc! nice selection on PSU one of the best brands and do you really need that much storage? if im reading that right, you want 12TB or storage?

I'm huffing and chuffing about the graphics card. If it's noisy you'll really notice it in the quiet scenes of movies, but if it gets too hot then it's wasted money... Doesn't have to be great, just able to handle 1080p and mid-level settings on games. Any suggestions?

Looking at these specs makes me want to upgrade my 1yr old Laptop!
I currently use CAD/Photoshop/illustrator/3DSmax simultaneously, but I just know it will cark it when I start running VUE xStream9 too this semester. It's a HPDV6: Corei7 720 with 8GB DDR3, 1 GB NVidia GT230M graphics card.
Can anything be upgraded to allow better performance/stability?

In real world computing, most people would not notice a difference between a $150 graphics card and a $300 one...

Amen to that. If you need a benchmark to tell the difference it's not worth the upgrade
