Hey all just a quick question.... Pretty sure my heater broke in my malawi tank maybe 2 days ago now. Ive taken it out and the temperature has stayed at 30C and ive had my best Marble peaock die of it.
Is there anything i can do to get the temperature back down i havnt had a chance to get another heater because of the public holidays, not sure if they regulate it aswell...... cheers

Cichlids Dying
05 November 2010 - 03:41 PM
Yo. ive got a 4 foot malawi display with mainly peacocks about 4 months old temperature went up to 29 degrees last night and since then 2 fish have died. I lost a few more in the last lot but due to cichlid agression from the flamebacks. Ive noticed some fair chunks in some of the fish tails but really not sure at the moment why a couple are starting to sulk.
any help would be appreciated. thanks

Malawi Tank Slowly Diminishing
05 November 2010 - 03:21 PM
Heyy.
Got a little bit of a problem. Have a 4 foot malawi tank about 4 months old. Have about 20-25 cichlids in there mainly peacocks and there slowly dying one by one, day by day. I recently had to get rid of a couple flamebacks due to some severe agression but now there starting to die off again. Had a problem with the heater just yesterday, found the temperature at 29 degrees and now its set as low as it can go and its still at 28 degrees. My water has been tested by the fish shop and all is okay just wondering what the problem could be, just seems that a couple of them are sulking and slowly dissappearing.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciatedd...:-)

New Tank!

Hey all just purchased a tall 4 foot in which i hope to have just malawis in as a display tank. Just a couple quick and easy newb questions.
Ive got the white sand and water in and currently have the filter running. Just want to know exactly what i have to do with the limestone and driftwood before i add them. They are all sitting in buckets of water but is it as simple as soak and scrub???
And the heater i bought before the tank will only heat up to 300L. My tank is just over at 320L, will i need another?
And how long is reccomended for the cycling before the fish are introduced??
Cheers in advance
