Can anyone tell me exactly what a "Hi Fin" Pleco is. Just doing a bit of research before getting some sort of Pleco. Cheers

My understanding would be its another term used perhaps for sailfins etc.

Yeah, I don't think so.

I have always thought of them as Gibbi.

However this is a prime example for use of scientific names where possible

They're on the AI stock list, listed simply as "hi fin Pleco". Would be good to list their scientific name as well, just to avoid confusion.

I am far from the pleco king, but I wouldn't think those two will cross

hi-fin is a term given to a pleco when dorsal fin is attached to small fin between dorsal and caudal fin {tail} and the actual dorsal fin is usually higher than normal... highfin is a term banded around given to a fish as it appears to have higher dorsal fin... normally to help sell a fish for more than its common value...

see pic on right... shows L200a high fin... and on left is a L200....
