I am new to this forum and love the cichlid fish from the Amazon the Discus Fish.
I live in Langford, I have 3 fish tanks. I really like keeping fish and have done it since I was a child.
The 280L Triangle shaped tank holds 5x Discus, bristlenoses and a couple of Cory's
Then I own a Aqua 620, 94L, which has a big mix of tank fish, fish I get from friends when they don't want to look after them any more.
Lastly, a small 40L Quarantine tank that I keep cycling, with a couple of plants.
I will try to get some photos, for you viewing pleasure soon.
My future plans, is to re-light my main tank with LED's, to save power & heat, etc.
I also plan to make a show tank, in the front room that I want to emulate part of the Amazon river and have a big school of mixed Discus, plants, tree roots, etc.
The wife has given the greenlight for the Show Tank, but once everything else has been done to the house. It will be about 2.2m long, which will fill a void to create a 'wall' for the front room. I guess it will cost me $2k - $5k so its very low on the agenda (damn mortgage).
Are there any other Discus lovers on here?
Can anyone advise me on what to look out for for buying 'Show' Discus?
