thanks! they are fairly easy to keep... i kept them in straight tap water for a long time... the occys and leptos were spawning in it. i have started using rift lake salts for the past 8 months or so, i think there is an improvement from doing it. you dont need heaps of shells like my tank, i have an ebay problem so i bought like 600 shells hahah i have that tank crammed full, a styrofoam box full of them somewhere too. and i sold/gave away a heap. i could have used maybe like 1/4 of the shells in that tank and it would have been plenty.
personality wise, the occies are really awesome. the 2cm female attacks my hand when i put it in the tank. definately worth keeping and worth breeding as well. the leptos are more about looks than personality hahaha. the sumbus are extremely shy and most people would probably rate them as very boring. they are much more secretive than any other calvus or comp i have kept. you need to have a six pack close at hand and sip it really slowly to appreciate them, they scare easily. then its ten minutes of looking at a shell for you.
