Hi guys,
One of my kigomas is suffering from a shredded tail.
There is no visual signs of aggression in the tank, although I suspect it's caused by aggression from another fish in the tank.
Anyhow, thought I'd post this up to be sure it's not something more severe.

No other fish in the tank are affected.

Type of fish: kigoma frontosa
Symptoms: tail shredded
Other tank mates: 2m 4f kigoma's, 2 x 30cm Albino gibbys
Tank size / capacity: 6x2.5x2 800l
Type of Food fed: Sera flora, NLS Thera A, brine shrimp, bok choy, spirulina wafers
Feeding frequency/amount : small amounts daily
Substrate: play sand
Type of filtration: Aqua One 1200 Canister, 3000lph powerhead, 2 x 480lph sponges for aeration, 5th week running dropside filter with expanded clay + sponge at top + 3 x airstones.
Frequency of filter cleans: Canister - 3 monthly, Powerhead - when flow drops but about every 3-4 weeks, dropside filter - non yet
Frequency and % volume of water changes: 50% weekly
Last water change: 5 days
PH: 8.4
KH:
GH:
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 30
Ammonia: 0
Phosphate:
Water temp: 25
Medications used recently to date: nil
Any recent changes..new fish/filters/power outages etc etc: nothing really except added more rocks recently as I want this lot of fry to be spat in the tank. (2 holding smile.gif)

As always, any suggestions/comments welcome.

may be from the outher male? frontosa hunt in low light so maby you dont see it because your in bed.
give it some time to heal if that dose not work you can put him in a tank by him self and add some salt.

Battle wounds for sure.
Watch out for fungus growth on the tail, you might want to have some melafix on hand just in case.
Make sure there are enough caves for everyone.
With this weather we are having there are probably some randy females in the tank and the males are trying to look tough by picking on the little guy. Girls like that smile.gif

Thanks guys.
Yes Andrew, the recent weather has had most of the fish going into overdrive.
The pic doesn't show it, (less than half the tank in that shot) but the rocks go the full length of the tank.
Yes king, always salt in that tank anyhow.

Doing the shed water changes today so I'll get this guy out and treat just to be sure.
