Hi Everyone,
I would like to start breeding Discus and at the moment I have one Pair. However, 1 Pair breeding does not add up to wise breeding when their siblings pair up. So I want to know people in W.A. who would be able to help me out in the distant future with small Discus.
I don't want rubbish as I will pay to what they are worth and are quality healthy stock.
I need two breeders or more to look at their young stock in view of purchasing.
I will be looking to breed with three pair ( which includes this pair here now) and I know that could take quite a few young discus to get another two breeding pairs from.

Discus Pairing
30 December 2008 - 10:51 PM
Hi,
I have got my tanks set up with the Discus pair who seem to be quite settled in and as yet have not seen them making any beelines to getting down to "it". Don't really expect them to neither!
Question is as this pair have bred for me only once in the last 2 months is it possible that they might be turned off from being moved from one Aquarium to another.
This breeding aquarium is much smaller than the last one they bred in but I had to do this so as I could control whats happening with their young as their mother likes the taste of them
I have been told it is an ideal size but hmmm I am having my doubts.
ALSO
Today it was very hot and I saw the temperature sore to 31.9c on the temp gauge and I was watching to see if the fish would turn another colour (like Bright Red)
As I have the three tanks set up on top of each other with 8" gap between.
The one on the top housing the Discus is getting too hot.
The heaters are turned off
Any ideas of keeping it cooler than it is during the day? I was thinking cold water inside a plastic bag

What Fishe Will Keep A Tank Healthy And Not Harm Discus Fries
27 November 2008 - 12:12 PM
I have 3 tanks with a divider which are going to be set up as (1) breeding aquarium and the other (5) as nurseries ( Nappy Tanks) for young discus fries to be nurtured in.
I need information of fish species that will not harm the youngsters and also help keep the water healthy and free of algae.
I am a complete novices and I see a brick wall in my head as to a huge lack of knowledge but not a dummy.

The above mention Filter needs a impeller. Does anyone in Perth or southern suburbs know where there is a shop that sells these parts?
New To Breeding Fish
13 November 2008 - 08:10 PM
I am new to breeding fish and come across this site and joined as we have a pair of Discus that are actively breeding but that is as far it goes
as the female eats the fries as soon as they are a couple of days old.
The fish are looked after very well but as i have discovered we are trying to do too much in one tank.
After reading that you should take the female out and place her into another tank and of course that means more dollars as we have to buy another tank/s to manage.
I have got the tanks ( fell of the back of a truck prices literally), but not the stands! In the process to build a stand to accommodate them.
So therefore to learn more about Discus and discus breeding join a club and ask questions and here I am... to hound you experienced breeders with questions and answers
