I'm thinking of setting up a shelldweller tank in the future, and I'd use the Cyps for activity in the top-mid levels of the tank. What does this fish cost? Are they readily available in the FSs?

Also, what (reasonably cheap) shell dwelling species would be good? The tank is a 3' by 1' by 15".

Damn, that's completely out of my price range :p Any other suggestions for colourful, active, peaceful fish that go in shell dweller tanks?

BTW, how much do multies cost around Perth? Has anyone got any that they're selling at the moment?

Multis r about 6$ each to 15$ each depending on size.
they r at every LFS.
Other colourful fish are probably lelupi..?
a bit aggresive but they go fine in ym tank but then again i have going on 50 tangs almost now!
YAY!
eheh but lelupi would be your best bet!

Well, the spare tank that I'm interested in putting the multies in, it's also the one I wrote about in your ad for tanks. So, if you don't buy it, I'll get some multies off you :) Might be a while though, cause I have to save up the money for a new setup (sand, filter, heater, fish, shells) ...

Would a few julies go with a colony of multies in the 3'?

Rainbows such as Praecox or Boesmani go very well in African tanks and keep to the upper and middle levels and won't touch the shellies.

The advice about the Rainbows is some good stuff. I had some rainbows in my big tank(which you have seen) B4 it Bcame as full as it is. I found they did the job of covering the empty water in the tank, very well.Have a think about them as a viable alternative to the pricey Lepto's that Lee is telling you about.

Also, there are some other nice shell dwellers like N. hecqui and others that are cheap and interesting. I don't know that multi's are THE best...but they are one option.
