hey guys. as im sure most of you know i am interested in purchasing one last tank. once i do this ill prob shut down a few of my other tanks whilst i go through year 11 and 12 (ill prob leave 3 running, not including fry tanks). basically, for a long time now i ahve had my mind set on a 5x2x2 as i thought it was an ideal size aquarium for firstly filtration, it didnt need to be too elaborate, the tank was a nice size, not too small and not too big, and it jsut looked proportionately correct. i have been looking at this tank for a long time now, but have seeriously looked at it for the last few months. it has now been brought to my own attention that nobody either has these tanks, or they like them so much they dont want to sell them tongue.gif. ive been looking in the quokka for a good deal for a while now. there are plenty of good deals on 6x2x2's and 4x2x2's but no 5x2x2's :@. you see, i want the tank to probably be a large planted aquarium eventually, and since i already ahve a 4 x 2 x 2 in the lounge, i dont particualrly want another. what do you guys think, do you reckon i should jsut keep holding out for a 5x2x2, or get a 4x2x2 or a 6x2x2. i want it to be a really classy aquarium, as itll be my last for quite a while. 6x2x2, even though i have the room, jsut seems too big for my needs, ie growing pep bristlenose, rainbows, tetras and of course some other catfish. basically, if anyone out htere either has a 5x23x2 for sale, pelase tell me first, or if anyone has had any probs with a 5x2x2, (im not 100% it wil lbecome a planted, im aobut 80%, but it wont for a while). like i understand lighting will be a prob with fluros cos they only come in 3 and 4 ft lengths, (i spose i could get a 2 and a 3 :S). yeah, and also, d you guys reckon a 6 x 2 x2 would be too big for this kind of tank and whther the fish would jsut get lost??
so, ultimately, what do u guys reckon, 4 x 2 x 2, 5 x 2 x 2 or 6 x 2 x 2. filter will prob will 2250 or 2 x 2217's.
thanx again guys, and than x4 your time reading the post.
sincerely justin

I have a couple of 5x2x2 tanks and people often comment they like the proportions of them.

of course you can get one made - I did. And the stand will need to be made also.

Heto make a very slick 5' light that holds 4' tubes.
Or you could make a custom hood that holds 4' tubes.

On my bottom 5' I have a 4' light, double, which is adequate.

A single 2217 is plenty of filtration - depends on stocking levels of course. I have a 2217 on a 6x2x2 with 34 adult Tropheus.

thanx a lot dude, youve confirmed what i was thinking. i do like the proportions of a 5x2x2, but its jsut that buying one new is going to cost me in excess of 400 bucks, and i dont have that kind of cash on hand. i didnt realise the 2217 was such a good filter, thus id assume that a 2250 would be plenty. i am gettign the cabinet custom made. thanx for the inspiration.
anyone else got an opinion out htere tongue.gif?:mb
