So just been reading that in the US there is industrial and food quality CO2 gas bottles. I was just wondering what sort of quality the CO2 gas is that we get here?
I've always just assumed it all comes from brewing places (I have 2 brew shops just down the road for refills) and if fine for brewing then should be fine in fish tanks?

Yes co2 from home brew shops is fine
There is such a thing as industrial and food grade co2 here too
Stick to brew shops and you're all good

I think so as well from what I've heard. I'm assuming they all get tested the same.
I have a smaller steel cylinder from the original setup (went new as learning and also just in case as in lounge room). Then bought a second larger cylinder (aluminium I think) one weekend when all the local shops seemed to have run out of CO2. Although probably not so critical now I don't try and run reef lights over a planted tank lol.
