Holly molly was that bad just then. Threw up for about 10min. Sorry if I gave u a mental image.

My siphon hand pump didn't work so I thought ill just suck it trough. And rest is history.

Anyone have similar experience or other disgusting aquarium story?

I have to suck the hoses when trying to feel the canister with water and create vacuum/pressure for it to flow.

Probably is an easier way but i love the fish poo and algea grin!

do yourself a favour and purchase an Eheim Starter Bulb

saves you sticking your gob on anything in future...... unless that's your thing?  :o

I'm not judging

If you are in Morley Aquariums ask Paul why he checks canisters before he sucks on the hose :Rofl_3f:

You guys must be doing something seriously wrong if you have to suck on a canister hose inlet to get it going. How the hell do you manage to break the siphon and if you do some how manage it, just take the whole inlet out and refill then reconnect and open up the tap. Gravity does the rest, no need to use the primer if it has one mine is just for show.

Or alternatively, if that doesn't work cos you think that gravity is a myth and the earth sucks, stick the inlet end of the inlet hose into the tank and use a powerhead/outlet from internal filter, to push water into it to get the flow going.  :P

I have one tank at ground level that I struggle to get a siphon going on because the hose has to rise up 900mm through a window so there is a low margin for error. Ruins my day every time... Kinda like swallowing a fly.

Yep I have done it but not allowed alcohol so cordial works fine with some toothpaste (yum) but seems like all will be fine! I get over it quick, but where can I get some pumps to pump clean water back into my tank? Also a pump to start the siphon, maybe a price of u have one! $$$

but where can I get some pumps to pump clean water back into my tank?

I bought a 30m garden hose which I carry through the house. Or just open a window near the tank and push the hose through there. Works a treat.

Make sure you clear the line of old hose water before you start filling though.

Yes but where can I get a pump to attach to that so I can start the siphon or pump the water alot quicker?

A pond pump with adapter for garden hose will do the trick
