I didn't want to hijack the other thread.

Just to say that we have a Motorbike spawn. Nothing mindblowing in that I know, but where did they spawn ?

We have a heavily planted frog pond 3m x 2m x 1.2m deep, we have a bog garden with a 1m x 1m x 30cm deep pond , we have 2 old cast-iron baths out the back, not good enough for them though.
The pair decided to breed in a 30 x 12 x 12 inch tank that I keep for "green water" which is used for fry food.

Some photos for you...notice the nuptial pad on the male ( like a thumb) which disappears after the breeding season.

Thanks for the comments guys. Unfortunately when I loooked this morning all the eggs are on the bottom of the tank, so I don't hold out much hope for those ones.
There has been a heap of calling going on through the evening & night from the frog pond so we might be lucky yet.

When we looked this morning we thought we had an outbreak of leaches in the tank. By this arvo' there were hundreds of them.

I took some photos & realised that they were tadpoles. I didn't realise that small tadpoles have suckers just behind their mouths.
I have never seen them in a tank before, always in a pond where this cannot be seen.
During some research I read that tadpoles eat their own poo...lovely.

Pretty sure we have someof these also..http://frogwatch.museum.wa.gov.au/Southwest/WheatBelt/559.aspx

Yes, we are going to be know as the "Fearless Frogs WA Inc".

More shots taken this morning. I know the glass needs cleaning, but it is only an old tank which is out the back.

It would have been better if you had cleaned the glass Ronny. tongue.gif

Update on taddies...we now have another batch of eggs, these are in a black 45 lt crate which is full of vallis. These are definitely Motorbike frogs as we saw the adults in there the previous night.

It seems like we now have 4 different species, Crinia, Motorbike, Banjo & several Spotted-thighed Frog see here.
Edited...Dec 14.. This now turns out to be a Motorbike frog..Apologies to all for this mistake.

http://frogwatch.mus...atBelt/559.aspx

The original batch are now growing really good, which they should do because the 24 x 12 x 12 tank they are in is thick with algae, they are now about 12mm long & very fat.

Will post some more photos later.

I know this is an old topic but I havnt had a computer for a few months.I am not having a go Col but the natural distribution of L.cycloryncha is nowhere near your end of the world unless there they have been transported there (i hope not) they would be L.moorei.

You are correct Kev, I will edit the post. Thanks for the reminder.

Apologies to all. I thought I had added another post correcting my claim.

After some research I found that what I thought was a Spotted-thighed Frog turns out to be just a colour variation of the Motorbike species.
