Materials Needed
1. Piece of sponge ( I used a piece 110x110x120mm this should do up to about 250L but dont qoute me)
2. Piece of tubing 20 - 25mm in diameter
3. Flat plastic
4. Air stone
5. Air pump
6. Airline tubing
Tools Needed
1. Drill
2. Silicone
3. Knife
4. Drill bit (i used 10mm)
Method
1. Silicone a flat piece of plastic to the bottom of the tubing (leave for a couple of days)
2. Fit the sponge onto the tubing
3. Mark where the sponge finishes
4. Take the sponge of the tubing
5. Drill holes through the tubing where the sponge will sit
6. Put the sponge back on the tube
7. Put it into the tank
8. Insert the air stone with the airline attached into the tube (put it to the bottom for the best effect)
9. Turn on the air pump
All of this took me about 15 mins and the end result is a fantastic sponge filter for half the cost of one you would buy at the shop. In theory you could make one to suit any size tank or pond all you need is a bigger sponge, tube, air stone and air pump
