Hi guys,
Im just new to the forum and i was wondering what type of fish everyones into and if anyone knows anywhere good to buy equiptment and fish as i have just come over from America (not American so dont worry) I know of a place called Vebas and i was wondering if anyone has been there to tell me if its worth having a look. I notice alot of fish that we have in America you cant get over here. One being the peacock bass. Also just wanted to know one other thing do you guys know whats allowed to be imported and what isnt like a detailed list so i dont get an illegal import.
Anyway thanks Dan.

G'day Dan, welcome to the forum
We can get peacock bass here, but only Cichla monoculus i think. I havent heard of temensis or occelaris over here.
For most fish you'll get heaps better deals buying privately, and if you hang around you should be able to get almost anything you want through the aussie cichlid forums one way or another.
Cheers

Lets start off with a welcome to our forum and welcome to australia
The way I've thought of cichlids that are allowed to be imported, is basically assume nothing can be imported , I think in total there's around 30 (maybe 35 or 36) species that can be imported, most of which are Lake Tangs, though we're allowed to import some american stuff, but definately not enough.
Cichla spp, are one of the species we're not allowed to import, and everything from Central America (except Parrots- H.nicaraguense).
I reckon Morley is a good shop to visit for it's AWESOME Malawi tank, that tanks big. Midland Pet and Aquarium is also a good visit apparently, and Aquotix is good (They have an 8ft tank with 4 Red Bellied Pacu), or did when I was there last
