#327417 Fish Breeding

OBSOLUTLY NOTHING WRONG WITH HYBRID AFRICANS! Try tell my peacock bass that there shit, he loves them lol. its the worse thing about Africans they cross breed like there meant too, prob one of the reasons why I have never bred africans as its so hard to tell at 3cm what they are. even if there a odd colour from the batch you don't know till they get a bit bigger.

#324641 Marine Tank Build

Posted by MattyB on 14 August 2014 - 09:43 PM

Hey guys, I have been in the Freshwater game a little while now, but I think its time to put my foot in the door of marine :) just starting to build up a collection of things for a Marine tank. list of things I have and need to get so far

What I have (pictures below)

6x2x2 tank as the marine display (has large overhead where I have mounted some LED Lights)

2 120w Led Light units (has moonlight features etc rated for marine)

Hailea Chiller

Shit load of Base Rock

standed 4 ft tank (to build into sump)

at the moment just collecting second hand gear to finish. if anyone has any decent wave makers, pumps, skimmer etc up for sale or laying around let me know :)

Ok, im looking into now is building the sump out of the 4ft tank, got me stumped there so many designs on google, be awesome to see other peoples designs and what works :) let me know on designs please :) more pics the better.

And yes the tank is fresh water atm, I did buy it to become marine but I hate to see a empty tank sitting there lol so just temp random stuff in there atm.

#323787 Breeding Discus For The First Time

Posted by MattyB on 08 August 2014 - 07:29 AM

hows it going with the peppering, being a melon and a turq you would have some heavy peppering and not recommending for continuing breeding the pair, but of course we all have to do it on a first batch :D congratz hopefully we may see some more from on of the other pairs in the tank

#323668 What Did You Score At The Auction??

Posted by MattyB on 07 August 2014 - 07:20 AM

Nice guys I only got couple pieces of drift wood and a pair of long fin L144s, be keen to get some more, awesome quality. next auction im going to try my luck and put some lots in, im thinking Peacock bass babies :D

#323602 Large Turq X Wild Discus Spawn :)

Posted by MattyB on 06 August 2014 - 08:05 PM

Hey guys It def been my week, as on post below my Pbass have spawned again, now amazingly in my community tank I have always had discus laying but my Large 18cm turq layed with my 15cm wild blue discus :) Def something worth putting in there own tank. its been just over 2 days, still getting guarded which is a huge shock since discus take at least 10 tries to get it right as they have to learn what there doing. Today I had a look and there fertile :D few white ones but most are fertile!! yay see what happens, hopefully I might see wrigglers tomorrow or next day before they get eaten, than into there own tank (anyone have any cheap breeding cones give me a shout)

Heres some pics :)
