Interested in a small group as I have a 1m x 1m x 0.4m tank and the gear to set it up.

It would seem that the problem isn't the money but finding the fish.

Perhaps you could apply for a collecting permit?
They must be around in northern WA?

But even for motoros a 3' tank is a growout for pups.

The Motoros have a diameter of approx 40cm with some others a little smaller or larger. Ideally I'd be looking for a 2:1 female to male ratio.

2 motoros died, the other was biten and the three retics were kept and sold over east.
a few years ago you could pick em up pretty easy over here(motoros), but now that theres next to no breeders all the qld mob are selling 12cm pups at like two weeks old, and most of the ones that come over here end up with "death curl" and die.
its a quicker sale and less hassel to keep them in the east, so thats what happens
