hey all,

was wondering if anyone knows wether I can add some americans to my Koi pond?
Its an 800 litre pond with 3 large koi at the moment.
I was thinkin of adding along the lines of:
- midas cichlid
-texan cichlid
-severums
-etc
As far as size goes they'll all be a minimum of 12cm, and i only plan on adding 3/4 fish.

I have considered heating, etc. Thats all sorted.

Can it be done OR are my Koi gonna get hassled?

Any helpful information appreciated,

mark

Ideally no, they should not be mixed together.

Long term the midas may become a bit agressive towards the severums in particular. I would be inclined to say that you Koi would get hassled as the Americans gain some size on them....could have an issue on your hands later on down the track.

If you were really desperate for space then you could probably put a divider in the pond....but your 3 large Koi could use as much space as possible.

The koi will get hassled becuase they are not aggressive at all and will get picked on by the other fish. feeding would not be a problem but if the temperature is too high the koi might not like it as they would in cooler water.
