So yesterday I decided to walk out with the camera and have a go at some bug photography.
Ofcourse, the second I have my camera in hand I cant seem to find any bugs all of a sudden.
So this is what all managed to get on Sunday using the 200mm lens.
But I wasnt too happy with them, they are a little too grainy for my liking.
Then this morning I figured I would have a play with the macro lens.
This little guy kept hanging around me, it is somewhere between 10 - 15mm long
So I tried using the fastest shutter speed my camera could do to try to get rid of the wing blur, 1/4000 of a second
Hanging around the Zucchini
Bit closer, I like this one, catching the wings at the top of the arc means heaps less blur
Up close and personal
Oh, btw, photos outside... sooooo much easier than of fish, there is so much light to play with!
I can't wait till I get my new lens attachment, a 1:2.5 super macro
Cheers

Well it's safe to say I won't bother entering the photo comp anymore. Not much point

That bee doesn't look like the usual European. Is it a native?

Spot on Dazza. They are the gardener's friend, as they are death on aphids: they tend to occur large numbers in irregular bursts, to the extent that it can be easy to catch a few by sweeping a net into a cloud swarming over a garden bed.

Johnno, I been meaning to take you up on the offer to come visit one day.... I'll get there eventually!
I dont really have alot of patience with bug photos, basically if I dont see it within a 10 minute window, I give up waiting!

I've always wanted to try lightning shots, and while straining to see the fireworks from my house I kept getting distracted by the much better lightning show that was going on (from my house anyway).
Quickly I learnt that lightning has a habit of not striking when or where you want it to.
I did get these two.
I have never hated a tree so much in my life!
