Hi

Leaving my present provider of my broadband and home telephone package and was wondering if anyone can recommend a provider that has some good deals on broadband and home telephone packages that are reasonably priced, reasonably fast internet and it doesn't take you over 2 hours on hold to get through to someone if you have a problem.

Any ideas or am I dreaming? Thanks.

Never had a problem with Telstra, Always there when I need them. But it's a little dearer.. But its worth it if the service is there.
Ive had WAY too many probs with other providers.

iiNet is good, been with them for several years. Internode is apparently good too.

For value for money and decent support u can't go past iiNet or Westnet. Westnet won ISP of the year last year I think. iiNet have implemented a callback feature on their support line to save u having to wait on hold for lengthy periods. iiNet also have their own gear in most of the phone exchanges so they're not totally under Telstra's thumb like the others. Avoid Telstra like the plague IMHO. Ppl often join up with them coz of their "big brand" name, lots of ads etc. But definitely no value for money and some of the worst support (e.g. continuous handballing) that I've experienced working in the IT industry.

You go for Westnet if you want customer service. You go for iinet if you want big bandwidth and nice speeds (dependant on your distance to the box and phone line quality... new development houses sometimes split their lines so its poorer quality and really old houses have crappy lines). You go for telstra if you want to bundle (mob+home+net etc) and you go for internode if you want the best gaming servers. Use to work at Westnet a year or so ago and thats basically what we all thought. Had a quick squizz just then and i suggest iinet home 5 plan bundled with voip (because its cheaper, dont have to use). Goodluck finding isp.

That's very slow for bradband these days. Just for comparison, iinet offer ADSL2+ speeds (up to 24000/1024) with 21GB quota for $49.95 if you bundle the homephone with them too ($29.95 line rental). Since AAPT is primarily a phone company, I am assuming you are bundled with them too.

I use optusnet and pay 69.95 per month. This gives me a 1500 connetion and 20gig peak and 40 gig off peak limit which has worked great for me 60 gig a month download is great.

I have had no probs with them either.

Cheers

Can you get ADSL2+ in Perth?
i was under the impression that it was not available in most (all?) areas?

It's available in most areas and has been for a while. It may not be with other providers because they rely on Telstra infrastructure, whereas iiNet puts its own equipment into the exchanges.

I've been with Westnet for the past two years and have been very happy with their service, especially as I'm a bit slow with the technology, hence lots of calls to Westnet support. Always quick to reply and sort out my sometimes silly queries. Westnet has now become a part of iinet, so should be even better.
regards

Hi

Thanks all for the great input. Finially got the ok to break my previous provider's contract, thanks to the Telecommunications Ombudsman. Was very interested in iinet but unbeleivably they can only offer dial up to my location in Morley. It would probably be at least 5 times the speed of my Virgin Broadband though, but back to the drawing board!!

That doesnt sound right... hmm, try Internode or Westnet (A division of iiNet now) then? Another one is Netspace.

Cheers!
