finally started working on clearing some space in the shed to set up some breeding tanks =]

Attached File  SAM_0552.JPG   1.12MB   112 downloads

ok so that is kinda how it started
only imagine a big bookshelf thing taking up that empty bit of wall filled with the paint thats on the floor
and a commodore in there as well. along with about 3000 spiders
so its come up pretty well

this is the breeding setup i pretty much made
bought it a while ago but grabbed some dexion and some new wood retic etc and re did it all
painted the tanks. made the wood a bit more waterproof.
made up of 4 x 40x40x40 and an 80x40x40

the ogiginal drainage parts i used leaked so i ended up having to drain the whole thing just about to replace the parts involved
but after many many metres of thread tape and some new washers there isnt a single drop coming through =]

and i had to put the elbows on top of the drainage so stop the horrible drain sound it had going on
imagine letting 4 baths out at once and having it going constantly
but now it runs with minimal sound so it's all turned out pretty well

Attached File  SAM_0564.JPG   1.09MB   69 downloads

all the water feeds down into this tank where it's pumped back up by a 5000 litre pond pump
also i have one of those hangons that AAA were selling and an aqua one 1000 that was running on my other tank
given i want to have my breeding pair in the bottom i found it hard to incorporate some filtration into the plumbing so im just doing it seperately.

so yeah thats it for now. but as you can see theres plenty more space in there =]

that's a 1930 dodge
my dads pride and joy haha

Nice set up wink.gif
I like that PVC set up, Gives me ideas...... another fish room maybe hahaha (Missus says NO!) smile.gif

Any chance of some pics of the Dodge? Love old cars. They have so much style & charisma, nothing like the plastic fantastic that drives around these days.

Don't really understand what you mean. But when the power is cut. Water finishes draining down to the bottom tank and just stops running. No water movement. No overflow. As long as I don't over fill the bottom tank it can't overflow.

The inlets sit lower than the water line in your tanks. In a power blackout, the potential is for you tank to siphon back through the pump and drain your tanks onto the floor. Your inlets are quite deep in the tank so its a lot of water thats going to come out if it happens. smile.gif It's the first thing I thought of too when I saw your pumbing.

Just because it doesn't do it now, won't mean it wont happen when you least want it to, I suggest cutting your inlets back so they are either above the water line, or if worried about the noise, to 1cm under the water line.

Other than that, looks good - hope the breeding goes well smile.gif

o ok i get ya know
yeah in my head its not like it is in the photo. haha
went back and had a look and could see what u mean haha
since then ive removed the pipe after the restrictors on the middle rack and proped the top ones up so that it's all above the water level.
only had it below for noise reasons but decided that with it below there wasnt enough surface disruption.
so its pretty fail safe now. only thing that can go wrong is the seal at the base of the outlets fail. then im screwed haha.

Yeah a bit has changed. Actually some fish in there now. I'm setting up another 3 tier tonight. For bristlenose. When I get that setup it'll be looking a lot better. It's a shame I only have one wall to work with.

ok well anyway.. the last shot includes the new three tier 2 foot stand i made tonight with $30 worth of dexion i got for free =]
planning on having bristlenose of some variety in there at some point.
made up of 2 40cm cubes and a 2 x 1 x 1 at the top

thats just a front view. that tank at the front wont stay there. just until the texas are all big enough to sell off.

speaking of which there they are. some of the bigger ones.

3 ornatapinnis taking up the 90 x 40 x 40 at the bottom.

40cm cube with 6 multies somewhere

the new 3 tier i set up. being run by 2 4-way air pumps i got from aquotix. running two sponges in each tank (if you couldnt see that haha)

6 x 2 x 2 im not sure what i'll do with. probably fill with malawis and have some breeding colony in it.

now just a couple of shots of the tanks inside. this is my neglected african tank. they will probably all end up in the 6 x 2 x 2 as i try to get more tanks out of the house.

my what was a shrimp tank which became a very well fed angel tank when i had nowhere else to put them =[

there we go
enjoy
