Hi guys im gonna start a photo journal over the next few months of my new tank (not so new).
Im redoing it big time for an amazon tank (though i may have some birchirs in there aswell)
Anyways heres the first few pics to kick things off, its gonna take me sometime to do it all up and so on but i think the end result will look spectacular

Tank: 8x3x2.5
Sump: 6x18x18
Biotope: Amazonian feel, with a twist of arfica

these three will go in there as the first fish

Can't wait to see the process, with a tank like that, the end result will be well rewarding. Good luck biggrin.gif

Well nothing set in stone but this is what im gonna choose from
Megalodaras cat, platydoras cat, silver aro, Gold nugget plec, Royal Plec, Heros sp, uaru, Discus, motoros.
Though i may scrap the whole amazonian theme and go for a couple of clown knives, clown loaches, more bichirs, Giant gourami.
In other words mate im not really sure yet.
May just stick a Tank buster in there like a Red tail cat, still unsure though

I would hate to be in your shoes right now lol a huge tank, so many fish out there. biggrin.gif

Like with your tanks i bought from you, i had to put some of my aquaponics fish in there for now and i am making one a planted tank but i still have 4 to fill. I want a fish that can be sold (not like the convicts) and there are so many options biggrin.gif

Some plecos would be great, i allways love dark substrate and dim light so you get the natural dark waters look.

I love the idea of the amazon theme Steve, mainly because of one of my favourite fish, the "uaru", they will grow huge in a tank like yours

Nope not at all mate im using 8000 bio balls, filter pads, shade cloth, carbon, and i was thinkng about a big section of the filter devoting it to growing plants to take up alot of the excess nitrates.
I have nothing against all this tech fitration and whatever else but in my opinion nature is the best example we can use, which really is water change and water condition mixed with a bit of bacteria and know how and i reckon your pretty close.

I agree Steve
People do under estimate the ability of plants to remove nitrates.
My planted tank has a lot of fish in it and has zero nitrates if not fertilised.
I even add enough nitrates 3 times a week to get it to 20 ppm but its used up in a day or 2.

Mike

ps...that big tank is gonna look great once set up.
